20 years later, and its still a chiptune banger. Gotta love the Bucky O'Hare game soundtrack for the NES. Enjoy it!
A former feature on my personal Facebook Page, I'm going to share music that I think is great on a daily basis. Keep an eye on this page and maybe you'll find somethin' new to like.

8-12-2012 - LATEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Stage 1 theme" - Tim and Geoff Follin.
Sorry I didn't post up yesterday...I came home from Dekalb and pretty much passed the fuck out for all of Sunday. Anyways, this was on my mind because I recently watched the Angry Video Game Nerd episode about the Silver Surfer game for the NES. I used to own it, and yeah...it wasn't that great (but of all the licensed LJN games, it was the best of them), but I did manage to beat it a few times. Enjoy it!

7-15-2012 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Mission 1 (Billy & Jimmy Theme)" - Technos Japan Sound Team.
It's been a good long while since I've last updated, and I'm sorry. I wasn't really paying attention to much music for a while, and I needed a break from here when I noticed I was slacking on daily updates and what not. Anyways, the updates are back, and I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner. In the meantime, get right with this classic track from the Double Dragon NES Soundtrack! Enjoy it!

3-11-2012 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Act 2-1" - Tecmo Sound Team.
The first part of Stage 2 from Ninja Gaiden 2 is definitely one of my favorite tracks from that game. All kinds of awesome "Ninja whoopin' ass on a train" action up in here! Enjoy it!

10-30-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Medley" - Junko Mamiya
Y'know...old NES Music composed to be creepy sounding really did a good job at creeping me the FUCK out (even to this day), and with Halloween coming tomorrow, I thought it'd be fitting to share some really creepy NES music with y'all. This is from the NES Adaptation of a Japanese movie called, "Sweet Home", and it has been said that this game was the basis that "Biohazard" / "Resident Evil" would take its inspiration from. Good move, Capcom...this game was creepy as fuck...even for being an NES game. (It was never released in the USA, but if you have no qualms about emulation, you can easily find a translated ROM of the game.) Enjoy it!

10-23-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Round 2 Part 1" - Meldac Sound Team.
Man...this game, "Zombie Nation" is fuckin' strange as hell. I knew someone that had it, but I never personally played it until I downloaded the ROM way later in life. You know that one producer with the same name that made that one track, "Kernkraft 400(FUNFACT: I don't like that track. At all.)"? I can't hear that producer's name and NOT think of this game, ever. Speaking of games...Kernkraft 400 got it's entire melody from some Commodore64 game called "Lazy Jones" Enjoy it!

10-9-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Shell Shock" - Virt.
Some awesome old school chiptune shit based on the Third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on the NES (The Manhattan Project). Enjoy it!

10-2-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "China" - Capcom Sound Team.
Strider on the NES was a busted ass game, no doubt, but the China stage theme was catchy as fuck! Enjoy it!

8-21-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Ending Credits Theme" - HAL Sound Team.
So, A few days ago, I was hangin' with my homegirl, CAITLIN POWER, and we were drivin' back to her place from Mitsuwa, and this track pops up on her shuffle. Don't hate...Kirby is the shit. Enjoy it!

7-24-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Freddy's(TM) Theme" - LJN Sound Team.
Yeah, so...at this years San Diego Comic Con, Netherrealm Studios announced their 4th DLC Character for the newest Mortal Kombat...Freddy Krueger. What the fuck, right? Well, this will be his second video game appearance, which I already figure is WAY better than his first, where this 8-bit version of his infamous playground rhyme comes from. FREDDY'S(TM) COMING! Enjoy it!

7-3-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Gotham City" - Sunsoft Sound Team.
Yeah, it's fucking amazing that THIS MUSIC came from a Game Boy Title, of all things. The drums and basslines are SO GOOD! Was the Game Boy take on Tim Burton's Batman movie accurate? Hahaha...no, but Tim Burton's Batman movie wasn't exactly faithful to Batman...regardless, it's a fun little game. Enjoy it!

6-26-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "Overworld Theme" - Nintendo Sound Team.
So, my homeboy, Joe Green, sent me a link to this youtube video series called "Stop it, B!" by Felonious Munk, recently. Well...turns out that the intro music for the "Stop it, B!" videos is actually some elevator music sounding version of this track from Super Mario Land on Game Boy. Enjoy it!
(Check out Felonious Munk's videos here!)

6-8-2011 - Today's Hotness (Chiptune / Dubstep): "8-Bit Cosmo" - Bop.
World-Famous Drum & Bass Producer, High Contrast, was hypin' this Bop dudes latest album on Facebook, so I checked it out and here's track two off of the album, "The Amazing Adventures of One Curious Pixel". There's some really good stuff there, and if you wanna demo the album, check out Bop's Soundcloud Page for it here. Enjoy it!

6-5-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY!!! (Chiptune): "The Pit" - Arena Sound Team.
My homeboy John Amenta and I were at a Fighting Game gathering / barbecue last night, and some of our peeps were playin' that new Mortal Kombat and makin' it look fun. So...here's a throwback track from the Genesis version of the first MK. Enjoy it!

5-1-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY!!! (Chiptune): "Intro Theme" - Tecmo Sound Team.
The intro theme to Ninja Gaiden II on the NES...who knew that grey box could pump out such dramatic music like that? Everytime there's a thunderstorm comin', I hear this song play in my head. Every damn time. Enjoy it!

3-27-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune): "The Doomsday Zone" - Sega Sound Team.
Remember when the "sonic cycle" didn't exist? Yeah, so do I...I also remember when getting all 7 Chaos Emeralds and become Super (Saiyan) Sonic wasn't relegated to ONE LEVEL...however, this is the true final level music from Sonic 3 & Knuckles after getting all the Chaos Emeralds AND all the Hyper Emeralds. Appropriately epic as you chased Dr. Robotnik through a meteor shower in space collecting rings so that you don't lose the power of the emeralds. Enjoy it!

3-13-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (16Bit Chiptune): "GTR ATTACK" - Konami Sound Team.
This track comes from an AMAZING boss fight in the Sega Genesis game, "Contra: Hard Corps", where you take on a trio of machines that combine and transform into various forms all imagined with the same purpose in mind: to fucking murder you. Such a fitting track for this high-speed battle across land and sea! Enjoy it!

3-6-2011 - SAVEPOINT SUNDAY! (Chiptune / VGM): "Leo! Leo!" - Konami Sound Team.
So this is kickin' off a new theme-day series I wanted to try out, based on video game music specifically. This first one is about a very special boss battle and was kind of inspired by Joe Drilling / Shakewell's (of the "On The Stick" Website and Podcast) video where he compares the differences between two versions of Life Force / Salamander.
Now, before we get to the actual track I'm waxin' poetic about...I gotta explain where it came from.
This is "Music 9" from the NES version of Gradius. I'm sure most of you remember it, but for those who don't...this track plays midway through the first level. You're trapped between two erupting volcanoes spewing a constant stream of lava rocks, and you need to blast 'em all or else you will die. Despite this track bein' sparse, it does its job in conveying the urgency the situation presents to you.
Now we have "Music 3"...this track accompanies a level that has a strong technology theme all through it. This track definitely sets the mood just right.
...But, what happens when you combine these two tracks and add a pumping techno beat and various orchestral sounds?
This. Probably one of the greatest cameos ever, this is the music that plays when you fight the Vic Viper (The ship you pilot in all of the Gradius games) itself in "Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner". Leo Steinbuck, the main character from the first game is the pilot of Vic Viper, and he's grown into quite the skilled runner. You, as Dingo Egret, are piloting the Orbital Frame, Jehuty, which was in fact originally piloted by Leo in the first game. Leo is pissed that you have Jehuty, and he wants it back! This track that scores the battle perfectly meshes the frantic nature of "Music 9" with the technology influenced "Music 3" while still adding something new. Definitely a classic track from a classic game. Enjoy it!
